| Content: | This item is a military notebook belonging to a Superior Pte SAIGUSA Nobuyuki, from the 2nd Anti-aircraft Regt 4th Coy. The notebook was issued to Pte SAIGUSA in 1939, and he possessed it until at least November 1943. The front of the notebook contains printed copies of the Imperial Rescript on the Armed Forces, and a set of "Military Rules" concerning soldier behaviour and morale. The back of the notebook contains Pte SAIGUSA's private notes on his military career, including his transfer to the 40th Tôbu Unit in June 1943, and his departure for Palau and New Guinea in November 1943. A table showing salary payments is inserted at the back of the notebook, and has been stamped by an officer NARUKAMI. This item was captured at Sabaco in June 1944. |
