Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of Japanese publications captured at various locations between 22 April and 28 April 1944 during the Japanese retreat across northern New Guinea and into Dutch New Guinea.

1. This item was captured in Hollandia on 23 April 1944 and is an interrogation note compiled from staff officers of various 18th Army commanders. Based on notes taken between 25 October to the end of January 1944, it includes information on US Air Forces in the Solomons, plans to bomb Rabaul, the distribution of air strength at Torokina, Mono Island, New Georgia, Guadalcanal and Espritu Santo, the development of first-line airfields, and the total strength of US forces in the South Pacific.

2. This item was captured in Aitape on 22 April 1944 and is a booklet entitled "Tactics of the US Air Force (Kugun) in the Solomons area". It was compiled from the interrogation on an Allied prisoner and issued by 6th Field Military Police Unit and reproduced by the Operations Section, 6th Flying Division on 7 February 1944. This item contains information on aerial formations, bomber tactics, fighter tactics, guerilla tactics, and actions taken before and after landing operations.

3. This item was captured in Sentani on 28 April 1944 and is a booklet entitled "Interrogation Report (No. 7) of an Allied Prisoner of War", dated 9 February 1944 and issued by the 6th Field Military Police Unit Commander. It contains information on airfield construction, aircraft maintenance, ground forces and marines in the Solomons area, communications, meteorological observation, billets, rest and allowances, hygiene, an alleged attack on a hospital ship, and the circumstances surrounding the prisoner's crash during an attack on Rabaul.
