Content: This item is a hand-drawn map of the region between Aitape and Sissano, showing the route to Negiyan in the Sepik River Valley. Distances and travelling times between Negiyan and Sissano, and Negiyan and Aitape are marked, as are major rivers. The map is numbered at various locations from 1 to 19, perhaps indicating the route to be taken between Aitape and Sissano via Negiyan. Parts of the route are also labelled "caution" and shaded in red pencil, probably signifying the presence of enemy troops in these areas. This item was captured at Anamo in July 1944.
