Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Sergeant AOKI Tsuneo of the 8th Shipping Engineer Regiment Medical Unit, who was captured on Goodenough Island on 8 March 1943. AOKI, a 26 year old Sergeant from Aichi, was captured by Australian troops while sleeping in a local hut. A party of about 30 reached an island after the sinking of Taimei Maru but all save three were killed by the troops. During the interrogation, AOKI provided information on unit organisation, the medical unit and its training, medical treatment, and conditions in Japan. He also expressed his view on being captured, which is quite positive .
