| Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Aitape on 22 April 1944 when US forces landed at Aitape in an effort to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item is an extract of a manual entitled "Combat regulations of an Air Sector Force - general principles and vol. 1 (provisional)", issued in October 1943 by the Inspectorate General of Aviation. It contains regulations and information on the organisation of the chemical warfare section, the deployment of personnel, decontamination procedures and other and anti-gas measures. This document was most likely brought to New Guinea by forces previously serving in China or the Philippines where chemical weapons were used. |
