Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Alexishafen on 3 May 1944 during the Allied attacks on Japanese positions in northern Dutch New Guinea, which were intended to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item contains extracts from two manuals entitled "Explosive warfare on the beach" and "Explosives used in raiding attacks", issued by the 41st Division Staff Section. They contain information on using explosives against an amphibious invasion force, the preparation and use of various explosive devices, and sketches showing charges and ignition systems.
