Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at on 14 December 1943 at "Headquarters Base D" (not identified in area lists). This item contains a report on the amount and condition of chemical warfare equipment held by units of the 51st Division between 15 June and 21 August 1943. It consists of reports supplied to the Chief of Staff Colonel HONGO Tadao by individual units of the 51st Division concerning: number and condition of gas masks, decontamination kits, condition of portable gas detectors, meteorological instruments, amount and condition of anti-gas clothing and equipment, and the education of chemical warfare personnel. In general, available equipment was in short supply and rapidly deteriorating.
