Content: This item is a collection of map fragments showing detailed area diagrams of Madang and Erima. The Erima fragments show the location of a guard unit and a casualty transportation unit, as well as mentioning a ship's engineer unit, suggesting that they may have been created for use in a military operation aimed at removing sick and injured soldiers from the region. The Madang area diagram is very detailed, and shows features such as roads, plantations and a gaol, as well as indicating the location of guard units. This diagram also has dates between the 1st and 5th of September written at various locations, suggesting that it is part of a planned operation by the 18th Army. This item was probably captured at Madang in 1944.
