Content: This item is a private notebook/diary belonging to an unidentified soldier; possibly a higher ranking officer or army paymaster/accountant. It contains battle plans and orders concerning military operations undertaken in Indonesia by a "3rd Regiment," including orders concerning the landing of a regiment on Timor island, and a reference to the "Surabaya Unit." The middle of the notebook is more or less blank, except for a few scribbled calculations and notes, one of which refers to "Captain HACHIMAKI, room 43 at the Daiwa Hotel." There is also a graphite rubbing taken from what might have been a Chinese coin. At the back of the notebook are lists and numbers referring to various supplies such as "water," "film," "soy sauce," etc. This item was probably captured at Sansapor in August 1944.
