Content: | This is a Japanese-language propaganda news bulletin produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office during the Second World War. An English translation of the text is attached. Major events covered by this bulletin include the resignation of General TÔJÔ as Prime Minister, the attempt to assassinate Hitler by a German colonel, differences of opinion in the High Command over operations in China and Burma, the fall of Saipan, the landing of the US Forces on Guam and Tinian, the air attack on Kyûshû and the situation in the South Pacific after the capture of Biak. Also reported are the complete defeat of the German forces at the eastern front, the advance of the Allied Forces in Italy, and the surrender of numbers of German soldiers to the Allied Forces. 100,000 of them were printed. 53,000 of these leaflets were dispatched to Darwin between 12 and 22 August 1944 and total of 45,000 of them were dispatched to Nadzab on 17 and 18 August 1944. |
