Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) combined interrogation report for 21 Japanese prisoners of war captured in New Britain and Manus Island between February and May 1944 found not worth complete interrogation. The interrogations were conducted by student interrogators primarily for training purposes and the accuracy of the information was not verified. It contains information on personnel strength, special units, recruitment and conscription, morale and welfare, troop movements, casualties, Allied prisoners of war at Kôbe, ship movements, Japanese fortifications, internees at Rabaul, Japanese naval losses and Allied air raids between September and October 1943. The appendix contains a sketch of the Allied prisoner-of-war compound, barracks and hospital at Kokopo.
