Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147514 of 38th Airfield Battalion, 1st Maintenance Company, who was captured near Aitape on 29 April 1944. JA147514, a 21 year old Sergeant from Kagawa Prefecture, was left behind after he was wounded by a shell blast from an Allied warship on 22 April 1944. He was captured after he unwittingly walked into a US troop bivouac area near Atiape. During the interrogation, JA147514 provided information on uniforms and clothing worn by the 38th Airfield Battalion and the 7th Flying Regiment, morale and spiritual training and the Tokorozawa Army Maintenance School, Allied prisoners of war at Ambon in July 1943, the general economic situation in Japanese economic territories, markings on Japanese aircraft, Japanese batteries and casualties caused by Allied air attacks.
