Content: This item is a medical register recording the admission and treatment of patients at an unnamed field hospital during the year 1942. It is divided into weekly sections; each section calculates the total number of admissions and discharges/deaths for that week, and records the particulars of new admissions, including the patient's name, rank, the nature of his complaint, the date of admission and any notes on treatment and progress. Often, these notes take the form of standardised instructions in rubber stamp, such as "prolonged bed rest," "permission to be relieved of duty," "treatment," and so on. Each weekly section is also rubber stamped with the personal stamps of the medical staff on duty for that week. Although there are some variations, regular staff included medical officers NOMURA and MOTOMATSU, Warrant Officer MATSUYAMA, Company Commander AOYAMA, and officer TANISHIGE. This item was captured at Finschhafen in April 1944, and is probably related to items 1/2/500054/1 and 1/2/500054/2.
