Content: This item is a report from a repatriated officer to his former supervisor or colleague in Rabaul. Main issues discussed include schedule for repatriation, provisions on board repatriation ships, correspondence with GHQ over the status of substitute foreign soldiers, dispatch of lawyers for war crimes trials, treatment of Korean and Formosan workers, payment of remuneration to servicemen, etc. It was assumed that more ships would be directed to Rabaul upon the completion of repatriation from China. The sender refers to the government's intention to draw GHQ's attention to the issue of foreign substitute soldiers, but predicts that GHQ would not intervene in war crimes trials in Rabaul. He also notes that Japanese lawyers have been sent overseas only at the request of the US, but the government is considering bringing this matter before a meeting with GHQ.
