Content: | This item is a so-called surrender leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office towards the end of the Pacific War. The message on the leaflet is addressed from the commanding officer of the American forces in Cagayan. It explains how to use a copy of the leaflet to surrender to the American forces. The message also mentions that Japanese POWs have been treated well under the Americans and they are recovering from various ailments caused by starvation, diseases and desperate battles. The message encourage the Japanese troops to consider living for the sake of their parents, siblings, wives, children and friends who are longing for their safe return. |
