Content: | This item is a Japanese-language propaganda news bulletin produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office during the Second World War. An English translation of the text is attached. Included in the coverage are the bombing of the Japanese naval base of Palau, the landing of the Allied troops on several islands of the Palau Group, the landing of the Allied Forces on Morotai, and the attack on Japanese airfields in the Philippines and the Ogasawara Islands. It also reports the liberation of France and Belgium from German occupation and the fall of the pro-Nazi military governments in Rumania and Bulgaria. This bulletin also discusses the worsening shipping problems of Japan, the superiority of US air power and the death of Rear-Admiral TSUNODA in action. 100,000 of them were printed. About 50,000 of these leaflets were dispatched to Hollandia between 5 and 12 October 1944, 45,000 to Darwin on 4 and 7 October. |
