Do I need Japanese software?
All Japanese text in the database records has been provided in GIF format. This has the advantage of not requiring Japanese client software. As the GIFs are small , there will be no reduction in browser performance. In the future the AJRP plans to implement fields within the database records that will contain Japanese processed text. This will enable searches on Japanese text for users with Japanese client software.

Several essays within the AJRP site, and the new Japanese language entry pages, are in Japanese. These pages require either a Japanese system, or special software to enable viewing of Japanese characters within a web browser. Mac users will require either KanjiTalk, the Japanese localised version of the MacOS, or the Japanese Language Kit. Windows users will require either a localised version of Windows, or a Japanese software package such as Twinbridge.

The AJRP has wound up its activities at the Memorial for the moment.
