Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Sentani on 1 May 1944 during the Allied attacks of Japanese positions in northern Dutch New Guinea, which were intended to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item contains sketches and notes on airfields in Borneo, the Philippines, the Dutch East Indies and Malaya between January and December 1943. It was issued by General Staff Headquarters Air Directorate and 5th Flying Division Headquarters. The notes describe the position of the airfield, geographical features, barracks and facilities, the condition of the runways and the progress of any construction work. |
