Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Tanauan on 29 October 1944 during the US campaign to capture the Philippines. This item is a booklet entitled "Intelligence report on enemy situation", issued on 22 July 1944 by 5th Section, Naval General Staff and reproduced by Nao (Sho) Group (35th Army Headquarters). It contains information on the strength of Allied ground and submarine forces, the use of air attacks to prepare for landing operations, and the speed of construction of airfields in the Pacific theatre. It also contains a chart on American vessels used in landing operations, a brief summary of air raid technique, the disposition of US air forces, a chart showing the disposition of US and Australian armies against the Japanese, a chart showing Allied air raids prior to the landings in northern Dutch New Guinea, Saipan, Guam and Sansapor, and a sketch showing Allied submarines in the Pacific as of 1 August 1944. |
