Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for OHARA Shosoku, who was captured in Giruwa on 26 January 1943. OHARA, a 36 year old civilian employee from Korea, surrendered to Australian troops. During the interrogation, OHARA provided information on his movements from Pelliliu (Palau) Island to Basa via Rabaul. He was recruited as a labourer to construct an airfield in Pelliliu. He was working as an overseer for 80 Korean workers when he arrived in Basa. Since he spent about a year in the Palau Islands before his arrival in New Guinea, he provided extensive information on Palau and the military facilities there. The report includes three maps of Pelliliu Island. |
