| Content: | The item consists of a summary of the battalion's personnel and equipment. The commanding officer is listed as Lt Col YANO Minoru. One side of the card consists of a detailed list of arms, ammunition and equipment broken down by unit. The other side is a list of officers with rank, unit and personnel numbers. Includes the 1st, 2nd and 3rd companies, communications, engineering works, transporation, medical and finance units. The date on the document, May 1942, is written in English using a similar pencil to the numerical entries on the chart. The words "Kure 3" appears in red pencil in one corner of the document, and would seem to be the name of the battalion as surmised by ATIS. This is confirmed by the nominal roll for the Kure 3rd Special Naval Landing Party which was also captured (see reference above). |
