Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for 1st Class Private YANAGISAWA Takeo of the 115th Regiment Communications Unit 1st Platoon 2nd Section, who was captured on Goodenough Island on 20 July 1943. YANAGISAWA, a 24 year old 1st Class Private from Gunma, reached Goodenough Island with his companions after the sinking of Oigawa Maru. After all his companions had either died or been killed, he had lived with a local woman and several children for four months before was handed over to US troops. During the interrogation, YANAGISAWA provided brief information on unit organisation, telephone equipment, personnel duty allocation. |
