Content: | These records consist of battle reports, operations records, orders and memoirs from Japanese army campaigns in eastern New Guinea and Papua. They either survived the post-war campaign of destruction of official documents or were compiled in the immediate post-war period by the Japanese Demobilisation Ministry. They include maps, war diaries, operations reports, memoirs and official documentation for army campaigns in Papua and New Guinea. Examples of items are war diaries for the 34th Line of Communication Unit in Wewak, and operations reports from battles in Buna and Giruwa. |
