Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for rank JA147007 of the 10th Independent Mountain Artillery Regiment 2nd Battalion Battalion Headquarters Wagon Lines, who was captured at sea north of Bougainville on 16 December 1943. JA147007, a 33 year old 1st Class Private from Ehime, was on a hospital ship, Buenos Aires Maru, being transported back to Japan on account of his illness. After the sinking of the ship by Allied bombing, he was drifting on a raft and was captured. During the interrogation, JA147007 provided information on unit organisation, movements, Buenos Aires Maru, and the social conditions in Japan. |
