Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147097 of the 1st Independent Mixed Regiment, who was captured at Papitalai, Manus Island, on 9 March 1944. JA147097, a 27 year old Superior Private from Ibaraki Prefecture, surrendered to US troops. JA147097 was uncooperative and the information he provided was considered unreliable. During the interrogation he provided information on the composition and organisation of the 10th Independent Brigade, shipping movements, damage to the battleship Yamato by Allied submarines on 25 December 1943, and the results of Allied air attacks on Kavieng in January 1944.
