Remembering the war in New Guinea - Interviews

Remembering the war in New Guinea
Interviews

For the main combatants during the Second World War, New Guinea was a hostile and alien place at the edge of civilisation. To the local people, it was their home and the centre of their universe. The stories of these people, however, are often told by outsiders. These interviews, conducted by Dr IWAMOTO Hiromitsu during field work over the past few years, provides an opportunity for some of local people to tell their own stories of how the war impacted on their lives.
