Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Demta (50 kms west of Hollandia) on 1 May 1944 during the Allied attacks on Japanese positions in northern Dutch New Guinea, which were intended to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item is an extract from a file entitled "Inward and outward correspondence, Matsuda Force" (12th Transport Flying Squadron, 7th Transport Flying Unit), dated 4 March 1942 to 29 February 1944. It contains flying regulations, restrictions, telegrams, operation orders, routes for Japanese aircraft in New Guinea, Netherlands East Indies, Burma and China. Sketches show identification markings for Japanese aircraft. Also included is a provision for a treaty between Japan and French Indo-China concerning flights of Japanese and French aircraft. |
