Content: | This item is a Japanese-language propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office during the Second World War. An English translation of the text is attached. The message criticises General YAMASHITA who failed to maintain the Philippines, despite the fact that tens of thousands of Japanese soldiers were sacrificed. It mentions the saying: "One general gains fame while tens of thousands die". The message concludes by questioning whether the recipient, as a Japanese soldier, must die a lonely dog's death because of the incompetence and irresponsibility of his commanders. |
