Content: | This item is a Japanese-language propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office. An English translation of the text is attached. There are two sketches printed on the leaflet. One shows a Japanese man with an empty cash box saying, "I have no choice but to visit a pawnshop". The second sketch depicts a long queue in front of a city-run pawnshop. The English translation states that the purpose of the leaflet is to draw attention to the financial effects of the war on ordinary Japanese citizens. 102,000 of them were printed. |
