Content: This item is an official diary for the month of January 1944, recording the activities of the 44th Line of Communications Guard Unit while stationed at 'Botora,' in the Hansa Bay district. It contains several maps of the Hansa Bay area, as well as daily orders and reports concerning unit activities such as road building operations, surveillance patrols and barrack maintenance. There are also reports of casualties and damages from enemy attacks in the region, and lists of new and recovering casualties among unit members due to illness and injury, including several copies of certificates notifying individual deaths and illnesses. It was captured at Hansa Bay in July 1944.
