Content: This document, which was prepared by Lieutenant Colonel TONEGAWA, contains two sets of interrogation reports given by IMOTO and the interpreter, MATSU'URA Michikazu, who was present at the scene of a theft. IMOTO was accused of stealing a tin of cigarettes and a bottle of sauce from the Australian forces. He had been caught by an Australian soldier. He admitted that he stole the sauce but insisted he swapped the cigarette. After persistent questioning, he finally admitted his theft and was hit and kicked by his Japanese officer as punishment. According to MATSU'URA, an Australian officer, Barnes, observed the entire process with sympathy and interest, and decided to let the Japanese forces deal with the soldier.
