Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for 1st Class Private JA147458 of the 6th Navigation Aid Unit, Shin 11801, who was captured at Humboldt Bay (near Hollandia) on 22 April 1944. JA147458, a 22 year old 1st Class Private from Gunma Prefecture, surrendered to US troops after most of the unit he belonged to was wiped out by naval gunfire and aerial bombardment. During the interrogation, he provided information on anti-aircraft defences near Wewak, Japanese recruitment and training, and aviation and armament production in Japan and occupied territories.
