Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Korako on 26 April 1944 when US forces landed at Aitape in an effort to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item is a manual entitled "Guide to anti-submarine warfare by heavy bomber units", issued in November 1943 by the Air Inspector General's Department and received on 13 February 1944 by 26th Airfield Company. It outlines the basic principles for heavy bomber units on anti-submarine patrol relying on visual sightings, including attacking manoeuvres, patrolling, release of bombs and loading of bombs. It also includes charts and photographs of bombs used in Type 100 and Type 97 heavy bombers. |
