| 内容の概要 | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) research report on the capacity of Japanese landing craft. The enquiry was received on 9 August 1943 and an answer despatched on 12 August 1943. In response to a request about the existence of a 145 ft barge/landing vessel, the ATIS report stated that the largest known craft was around 53 ft. It also contains the dimensions and capacities of Japanese landing vessels, including the cargo vessel known as a "sea truck". Considerably larger than landing-craft, sea trucks carried a crew of between 30 and 40 men, were similar in construction to an ordinary ship, were used for the transport of freight and did not normally carry troops. The report concluded by stating that the sighting of a 145 ft barge may have been a mistaken sighting of a heavily camouflaged landing craft. Alternatively, two landing craft in close tow may have appeared as one vessel, or a sea truck may have been reported as a landing barge. |
