Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Tanauan on 29 October 1944 during the US campaign to capture the Philippines. This item is a collection of intelligence reports on guerrilla warfare in the Philippines by the Watari Group (14th Area Army) held by the 22nd Field Artillery Regiment. This item contains intelligence reports B numbers 152 to 157 for the period 1 April to 30 June 1944. The reports contain detailed information and maps on the following: the strength, organisation and tactics of guerrilla groups; Japanese punitive operations; conflict between communist groups; US guerrilla units and Filipino guerrilla groups; wireless communication; submarine communications; air raids by US aircraft and Filipino morale. They also contain a general appraisal of the effectiveness of guerrilla operations and the prevalence of propaganda. |
