Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Superior Private OGURI Sakirô of the 50th Anti-Aircraft Battalion 3rd Company 1st Platoon Spotting Section, who was captured in the Trobriand Islands on 21 March 1943. OGURI, a 26 year old Superior Private from Gifu Prefecture, was captured by Allied troops when he and his companions were travelling to another island. After the sinking of Oigawa Maru, he and eighteen others got into a collapsible boat and landed several islands in search for food. Initially, OGURI gave a false name as NIINO Kenji. During the interrogation, OGURI provided information on organisation of his units since 1938. OGURI proved to be an intelligent and observant soldier and expressed his opinions clearly on war, being captured and other issues related to morale. |
