Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for Superior Petty Officer Pilot JA14558 of the 751st Air Unit, who was captured in Huon Gulf on 22 September 1943. JA14558, a 23 year old Superior Petty Officer Pilot from Miyagi, was unconscious when he was rescued by a US destroyer after his plane crashed in Huon Gulf. During the interrogation, JA14558 provided information on unit organisation, movements, Japanese bombers, training, air operations, morale in Japan, and air bases in South Pacific Islands. Sketch maps of airfields in the South Pacific Islands and Rabaul are attached. |
