Content: | This item is an instrument of surrender of the Japanese forces in Korea south of the 38th parallel, and consists of both Japanese and English versions prepared for the formal surrender of the Japanese forces on 9 September 1945 in Seoul. Only the English version bears the signatures of the representatives of US Army and Navy forces in Korea, Lieutenant General John R. Hodge and Vice Admiral Thomas C. Kinkaid. Neither the Japanese nor English version was signed by the Japanese representatives. |
