Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Aitape on 1 March 1944 when US forces landed in the Aitape area in an effort to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item is a booklet entitled "Instructions for Model 2 Detector Kit", issued in October 1941 by the Navy Technical Research Department and held by 90th Garrison Unit (Keibi). It contains information and sketches on the construction, operation, precautions and nomenclature for a Model 2 detector kit, used to detect the presence of carbon monoxide, mustard (blister) gas and phosgene. |
