Content: This item is a set of confidential yearly service reports from 1939 for a Lieutenant NAKAMURA Shigeo from the 216th Aerodrome Company. The reports date from NAKAMURA's recruitment year, which was probably 1940, and record his progress from recruitment to his eventual promotion to lieutenant in 1942. The first report gives marks and rankings for NAKAMURA's achievements as a first year soldier, in activities such as battle training, weapons, and general education and duties, with detailed remarks from his supervisors. Each subsequent report contains more general assessments by senior officers or supervisors on NAKAMURA's health, personality, attitude to work, and overall strengths and weaknesses. There is also a space for recording any significant circumstances within NAKAMURA's immediate family during his service, such as the death of his mother in March 1942, and his own marriage in November 1942. The final report, which is for the year 1943, is signed by a Commander ÔYAMA. This item is part of a folder of similar items, and was captured at Korako in April 1944.
