Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA148091 of the 27th Special Base Unit, who was captured at Demta (50 kms west of Hollandia) on 26 May 1944. JA148091, a 23 year old 2nd Class Petty Officer from Hiroshima Prefecture, was captured by US troops while retreating from Hollandia. During the interrogation, JA148091 provided information on morale among the Japanese people, rationing in Japan, responses to Allied leaflet propaganda and musical broadcasts, the location of Allied prisoners of war in Rabaul in October 1943, the organisation of the 27th Special Base Unit, the equipment and armament of the 85th Garrison Unit and air defences on Kairiru Island.
