| Content: | This item is a paybook issued in March 1942 to a 2nd Class Private MASUYA Kôtarô from the 222nd Infantry Regiment, recording salary payments made to him between October 1942 and February 1944. At the front of the paybook is a list of instructions for its care and use, as well as a list of ranks and special allowances calculating the rate of pay due to Pte. MASUYA. The rest of the book consists of pages divided into columns for recording monthly payments, with spaces for the signature of the payee and paymaster. These sections have been filled in and stamped by paymasters TAKAHASHI, UMEDA, TAKEDA, and SUNAKOZAWA. This item was captured at Sorido in 1944. |
