| Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Depapre Village, Tanahmerah Bay, west of Hollandia (Jayapura), on 22 April 1944 during a series of amphibious assaults made by US forces along the northern coast of New Guinea and Dutch New Guinea, which were intended to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item is a technical manual entitled "Underwater magnetic detector" and contains descriptions, operation instructions and specifications for a device placed at harbour entrances and river mouths in order to detect the passage of ships and submarines. |
