Content: This item consists of correspondence between Vice Admiral IRIFUNE and Staff Officer NOMURA. It contains seven letters and attachments from NOMURA to IRIFUNE and one letter from IRIFUNE to NOMURA. Main issues discussed in NOMURA's letters include war crimes trials, remuneration for defence lawyers and interpreters, and mismanagement of documents related to servicemen's savings. NOMURA apologises that the documents on savings were wrongly destroyed and consults IRIFUNE in order to enable soldiers to withdraw their savings without those administrative documents. The letter from IRIFUNE to NOMURA discusses Japanese POWs transferred from Lae.
