| Content: | This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for 1st Class Private JA147010 of the 141st Infantry Regiment 2nd Battalion 2nd Machine-gun Company Battalion Gun Platoon 2nd Section, who was captured at Cape Gloucester on 20 January 1944. JA147010, a 23 year old 1st Class Private from Hiroshima, was wounded, famished and weak when he was captured by US troops. He had a grenade with him to commit suicide, but was too weak to use it. He was an ammunition career in his unit. During the interrogation, JA147010 provided information on unit organisation, movements, battle ships Nagato and Yamato, and social conditions in Japan. He also provided information on the Osaka Arsenal where he used to work before his conscription. |
