Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Aitape on 24 April 1944 when US forces landed at Aitape in an effort to isolate the 18th Army at Wewak. This item is a file of operation orders 394 to 414 dated 24 February to 20 March 1944. It contains anchorage and shipping orders, issued by IWATSUBO Yoshiaki, Commanding Officer, 49th Anchorage, for use in the Wewak area, including: plans for land fortifications, loading plans, health measures, organisation of smoke-screen units, evacuation of sick and wounded, lessons and trends in tactical employment, training, ship construction and repair, sketches of Wewak harbour, shipping movements, rationing, medical supplies, fuel and oil supplies, ammunition and anti-aircraft precautions.
