Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) interrogation report for JA147490 of 4th Air Intelligence Unit Headquarters, who was captured near Tami River (near Hollandia) on 28 April 1944. JA147490, a 26 year old Mess Sergeant from Saitama Prefecture, surrendered to US troops. During the interrogation, JA147490 provided information on the organisation and operational methods of the 4th Air Intelligence Unit, training with the Yokosuka Heavy Artillery Regiment, discipline and his thoughts on his service experience, living conditions in Japan, his attitude towards capture and that he did not wish to return to Japan, his response to Allied leaflet propaganda (some were kept as souvenirs), morale and Allied air raids on Wewak during 1944. The appendix contains organisational charts for the 4th Air Intelligence Unit and the Yokosuka Heavy Artillery Regiment, and a sketch of a Type 89 15 cm gun and crew positions.
