Content: This item consists of a list of approximately 840 names, ranks, status and service numbers of members of the Kure naval station 3rd Special Naval Landing Party. This unit was part of the Japanese landing force that landed in Milne Bay in August of 1942. An overview of the personnel and equipment of the force is also extant (see reference above). The roll was printed in February 1942 but contains a monthly summary of personnel numbers in pencil on the last page. This summary shows that the battalion's numbers remained fairly constant over the period.
