Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Namber airfield (Noemfoor Island) on 11 July 1944 during the Japanese retreat across the north coast of New Guinea and Dutch New Guinea. This item is a collection of notes and maps of the Vogelkop Peninsula and Geelvink Bay area in Western Dutch New Guinea, dated April 1944. It provides military and topographical data such as, the nature of the terrain, the native population, suitability for airfields, anchorages, local weather, facilities available for transport, billeting and water supply.
