Content: This is an Allied Translator and Interpreter Section (ATIS) translation of a Japanese publication captured at Lae on 25 September 1943 shortly after the fall of Lae and the beginning of the Japanese retreat across the Finisterre Ranges. This item is a collection of daily orders for the Lae (Naval) Garrison Unit, dated 30 November 1942 to 27 July 1943. It includes plans for bayonet practice, plan of land combat drill for 14th Pioneer Unit, firing practice for mountain artillery and infantry guns, instructions for loading and unloading cargo submarines, signals and semaphore information, specifications for American aircraft, and instructions and sketches for the construction of machine-gun positions, skirmish trenches and air raid shelters.
